“A bird in hand is better than two in the bush.”
A saying used to express the idea that it is better to hold onto something one has than to risk losing it by trying to get something better.
An English version of this idiom existed in the 16th Century, but another Aramaic variant came from the 7th Century in The Story of Ahikar.
